The Ohio High School Athletic Association state boys soccer playoffs begin on Monday. Here's what to watch for in Southwest Ohio with Greater Cincinnati teams looking to make a run at a state championship.
Division I
Southwest 1
Top bracket: The upper portion of the bracket is headlined by No. 3 Anderson, which wrapped up an outright Eastern Cincinnati Conference title last week, finishing 8-0-1 in league play. Anderson senior Bennett Painter leads the ECC in both goals (25) and points (61) while Sam Hughes and Tate Brandon were each Top 5 in points. The Raptors' defense had posted four consecutive shutout wins before a 3-3 draw with Mason in the regular-season finale. After a first-round bye, Anderson gets either No. 23 West Clermont or No. 27 Goshen.
No. 8 La Salle is the only other Top-10 seed in the top bracket. The Lancers finished third in the Greater Catholic League-South, but went 7-2-1 outside of league play. La Salle senior Zenny Zang ranks second in the GCL-South in points. If La Salle gets past Winton Woods, the Lancers would face No. 18 Oak Hills in the second round. The Lancers beat the Highlanders early in the year, 3-2.
Bottom bracket: No. 10 Lebanon is Greater Cincinnati's lone representative in the bottom bracket. The Warriors are 5-9-3 and finished seventh in the ECC
